Reporting from Kabul this morning, Reuter records that five Afghan soldiers have been killed in an air strike by NATO-led force in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Logar.
President Hamid Karzai has ordered an investigation.
The airstrike, at around 3.30 a.m., seriously wounded at least eight other soldiers – nine others receiving minor wounds according to the office of District governor Khalilullah Kamal.
He announced that a discussion in the province is going on between Afghan officials and foreign forces to find out the reason for this attack.
Coalition forces said the bombing was an accident: “We value the strong relationship with our Afghan partners, and we will determine what actions will be taken to ensure incidents like this do not happen again”.
The coalition wonders how to avoid ‘accidents’:
it’s simple: stop drone strikes
